Phytotoxicity of Rich Oxygenated Terpenes Essential Oil of Prosopis farcta against the Weed Dactyloctenium aegyptium

Weeds are considered the main reason for crop yield loss in world. Weed control and management include various treatments such as cultural, physical, chemical, biological methods. Chemical of weeds is most common method; however, application commercial synthetic herbicides caused several dangerous hazards environment including appearance resistant weed biotypes. Prosopis farcta (Banks & Sol.) J.F.Macbr. (Family: Fabaceae), a plant Middle East, where it hard to eliminate due its deep overlapped roots. On other side, has many traditional uses around Herein, essential oil (EO) P. above-ground parts was extracted via hydrodistillation techniques then analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). From GC-MS analysis, 47 compounds were identified with relative concentration 98.02%, terpenes components (95.08%). overall compounds, cubenol (19.07%), trans-chrysanthenyl acetate (17.69%), torreyol (8.28%), davana ether (3.50%), camphor (3.35%), farnesyl acetone (3.13%) represented abundant constituents. Furthermore, phytotoxic activity EO assessed against Dactyloctenium aegyptium (L.) Willd. The farcta, at 100 µL L−1, significantly inhibited germination, seedling shoot growth, root growth by 64.1, 64.0, 73.4%, respectively. results exhibited that affected followed seed germination respective IC50 64.5, 80.5, 92.9 L−1. It can be concluded not absolutely harmful, but they may have beneficial uses, as, example source phytochemicals practices (bioherbicides). advised conduct additional research characterize allelopathic action major chemicals their pure form, either alone or combination, variety weeds.
